Description of Wild West World

Wild West World is a fun, original, and detailed strategy game set in the USA's famed Gold Rush period. Designed by the same designers as The Manager, one of the most complex football simulations ever made, Wild West World tells the story of Jack Putter, a cowboy and wannabe farmer who just moved to a new town. As Jack, your goal is to become one of the town's most respected citizens - and finding gold nuggets in the process can't hurt. The game gives you 20 years to accomplish your career goals, with each turn representing one day. Your first tasks are to hire a few farmhands, buy horses, seeds, and cattle, and perhaps borrow some start-up capital from a local bank. In addition to dealing with robbers and thieves, you have to deal with many other random events including Indian assaults, floods, locusts, and many more. At all times, you must take into account dozens of factors in making decisions, because the computer-controlled farmers are not stupid. On top of the turn-based strategy gameplay, Wild West World includes a few action sequences such as the pistol duels to evoke the feel of the wild west and add variety to the game. If you find that the game is too difficult, you can reduce the difficulty level - there are five in all. As a "wild west business simulation," there is very little that is wrong with Wild West World. I found some pictures too grainy or too small to see, but that is a small nitpick. If you like The Lost Dutchman Mine but found it too simple, Wild West World is right up your alley. Highly recommended to all wannabe cowboys everywhere.

After trial runs i realize you need certain items such as tools guns and wheat delivered to you farm to help your staff. it seemed a bit confusing and not straight forward. but im able get further along in the game now i understand it better. the manual doesnt seem teach you everything. i learned more by trial and error. no wonder this game has not got a lot of recognition. is complicated almost in an awkward state. i think i may need whiskey on my farm to supply the alcoholics. not sure if i need stock anything more on the farm i think i will find a balance of what to produce and what i can get from the merchants. i enjoy exploring this game for some reason in spite its quirks, if i analyze this game more may discover if more than just intelligent employees are needed,

The manual found outside this site seems to explain quite a bit about the game. For me i had to look at the manual several times to find info i needed. this game seems playable with a few minor and obvious bugs people may notice or not. seems it should be possible to complete the game in a few hours or a few days. I would said close to 20 hours depending how much you understand the game and some of the luck based stuff. It's worth trying for at least one or two play throughs. if your luck is noticibly bad might do better on another play through. I like the game for the music and the nostalgia kind of feel to it. I keep a copy of it on my amiga emulator and pick it up again once in a while try figure stuff out some more. far as i know the dos version will play pretty much same as amiga version.

i figured out that you need go with trek settings you have available add a wagon and the cargo with at least one employee. don't need back out to add horses. seems the problem with horses is they sometimes auto add to wagons. but i was kind of thinking you had to add them when you add the wagon to the trek. but it seems if you have the setting set to use horses they are already on the wagon i guess. so the confusion i had was i wasnt able to add horses but they seem already there. just a little weird and hard to understand.

Anyone figure out best approach this game? I don't know why but the amiga version at least it seems deliveries for the merchants don't work. or at least the first one. it wont allow you to select horses to go with wagon on the start of that trek or i am not able make deliveries on time. it may be i need start the delivery from that trek screen and not back out and add horses or it wont work. but i don't think a wagon without horses will make it in time. I think this game was under radar far as amiga and pc game. doesn't appear to be any fan base left on it. I seen a few players say they have played the game but it's very difficult to get insight on abandoned games. I found only one video for this game on YouTube and it was basically just the screens I already discovered. according to the manual this game is sort of complex. but I sort of think it has some problems with the programming like it was a rush job in time for a holiday. too bad its not possible to download or find a patch that would fix problems with the game. i kind like the music though. wish there was ways to find fixes to abandoned games even if it was just a little tweaking of the program files. i think i like do more this game but it feels like it's broken and dead.
