Same here tried the game from another source. And after selecting a car to race it just crashes and exit's out of the game :(

DON'T buy the Steam port!
The steam port has a bunch of bugs, glitches, and errors like not being able to save, or saving causing the game to crash, that do not occur on other versions of the game. Plus, it's one of the worse looking versions of the game. Buy this game on Wii or Xbox 360, if you want to play this on PC, look for the original disc release from 2006, which is basically the same as the Gamecube and PS2 versions and without the nasty Steam glitches.
