Description of One Must Fall 2097

One of the BEST fighting games ever made.

Period. When it first came out the response on the action newsgroup comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.action was overwhelmingly positive, despite garnering virtually no attention in the gaming magazines. Pick your trusty mech and enter the many competitions to win fame and fortune. Numerous upgrades to your mech can be had for a price, and the ability to improve your own character, RPG-style, is a nice touch. Now I'm not an action gamer, but this game did keep me hooked for hours.

Two thumbs up for this underdog, a proud entrant in our Hall of Belated Fame.

Note: To cheers of fans worldwide, One Must Fall: Battlegrounds is in the works! See how this great-looking sequel is shaping up in the related link below :)

Where does "play in your browser" store savegames?

J.D. 2023-01-19 0 point

one of the best fighting games on MS-DOS, basically it gives us what "Rise of the Robots" should have been.

A freeware fighting game with giant robots, an RPG mode and a kickin' soundtrack?

GET IT NOW!!!!!

With the right tools, you can even put your own face among the pilot roster!

working with dosbox on win10 64. not the deluxe version though as tournament can only have 5 robots and 4 tournaments where full game gives 11 robots and 3 more big tournaments.

Please do play with hardest option. Ie heavy metal. Do final execution moves and scraps to enemies and you have very fun time guaranteed

Best and only fighting game I play. The upgrading is the best part and pretty much every vs game I've played doesn't have that feature. And the music is AwEsOmE!!! For a 90s game today, that's "Impressive" lol.

To the Admin-not for the public: I have my own version of this from way back when (my son and I used to go at it when he was a pretty young boy... all grown up now) that is 14mb compared to this one (6 mb). I take it mine probably has more levels. It would please me to give back a little bit.

Jaguar - jump kick, low kick, round house, round house, round house. Repeat. Win. Every time. Every opponent. Every difficulty.

Great game, I played this quite a bit when it came out. The title screen music still comes back to me sometimes :) I'm surprised the original "One must Fall" (not 2097) game is not on this site... It came out about a year before 2097 and was more like a tech demo with characters that looked like Ryu & Ken, and not much content.. More info about that on the wikipedia page here:

But I digress, OMF2097 and Sango Fighter, now those are some classics, best fighting games for DOS, back in the days when I still cared about fighting games. :)

Nice beat 'em up by Epic! Definately under the running waters of Street Fighter and (of course) Rise of the Robots, it's still a nice pick up to spend some hours... ;)

Absolutely Classic game. Story mode may be a bit weak, but career mode is great. A shame it was generally overlooked when it first came out.
