How to play Hulk Windows
The game has been tested on Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, it works fine. You may experience some small troubles when you play the game on modern systems, check our Guide and Notes for details
Install & play guide:
- Mount the disc image of CD1. You will need the utility for mounting disc image files, like WinCDEmu, UltraISO, Alcohol 52%/Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools Lite
- Run the installation process, choose "Full Install" (if autorun doesn't work - simply launch the installation from Setup.exe inside the disc). It is recommended to install the game not in default path, but in some other, non-system folder, like
C:/Games/The Hulk
. When the installation process will ask fornext discs - mount the disc images of CD2 and CD3 - After you installed the game - use NoCD, simply copy Hulk.exe from the archive and put it into game folder, agree to replace the original file
- Now you need to lock the framerate at 60 FPS, because the game have issues if it runs on higher framerate. For example, the easiest method is to use ThirteenAG's d3d8-wrapper, simply copy d3d8.dll & d3d8.ini in game folder, next to Hulk.exe, then open d3d8.ini in Notepad and enter
FPSLimit=60
; after that save the changes and run the game. Alternatively, you can use one of the other framerate limit utilities - Open the game folder and find Hulk.exe. Right click on Hulk.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Set "Run this app in compatibility mode with Windows XP" and "Run as administrator"
- Launch the game and play. If the game doesn't work in compatibility mode with Windows XP - try to launch it in compatibility mode with other version of Windows (Windows 98, Windows 2000, etc.)
Notes:
- If the installation doesn't start - try to launch Setup.exe in compatibility mode with old version of Windows (98, 2000 or XP)
- It is recommended to install all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and NET Framework for the correct work of the game. Also it is recommended to install K-Lite Codec Pack for the correct work of in-game videos
- The game works on DirectX 8, so if you're using Windows 8, 8.1, 10 or 11 - you need to enable DirectPlay: Go to Control Panel, and select 'Programs'. Select 'Turn Windows features on and off', click on 'Legacy Components' and check the box 'DirectPlay'. Select OK, once the installation is done, restart your computer
- The game is using SecuROM DRM protection, which may have issues on modern systems and requires the disc for launch. NoCD "breaks" DRM protection and allows to run the game without the disc
- By default the game supports only 4:3 screen resolutions. But you can play with widescreen and high resolutions by using Widescreen & FOV Fix by WSGF (the fix also works as NoCD). To use it simply select the folder with your screen resolution and replace Hulk.exe in game folder; if you cannot find the folder with needed screen resolution, use Universal Widescreen Patcher tool in
uniws
folder. Check WSGF page to see the screenshots with examples - If you still have issues with the game even if you run it with 60 FPS lock, run the game with dgVoodoo. To use it copy the D3D8.dll, DDraw.dll & D3DImm.dll files from the
MS/x86
folder, dgVoodooCpl.exe and dgVoodoo.conf to the game folder, then open dgVoodoo.conf in Notepad in the lineFPSLimit=0
enterFPSLimit=60
. The game works on DirectX 8 which may have issues on modern systems, using dgVoodoo should fix it. Also, with dgVoodoo you can run the game with Antialiasing or Texture filtering, to change the settings run dgVoodoo Control Panel (dgVoodooCpl.exe) as administrator. dgVoodoo is compatible with Widescreen & FOV Fix, but don't select any forced resolution in dgVoodoo Control Panel, to avoid conflict of the apps - Vsync in the game doesn't work on Windows 10 & 11! Using additional wrappers like crosire's d3d8to9 wrapper or dgVoodoo fixes the problem
- The game has support of EAX (Surround Sound) and DirectSound3D, to enable it you need to use DSOAL. Here's the example how the game sounds with 3D Sound enabled
- The game has controller support. If the game doesn't recognize your gamepad - try using one of the additional tools from PCGamingWiki guide for controllers
- Don't forget to check PCGamingWiki if you have troubles!

Magipack works fine out of the box https://www.magipack.games/2023/06/the-hulk-full-game-repack-download.html . I think it incorporates the fixes mentioned here.
The original (at least RIP) version posted here is indeed unplayable due to FPS issue. I managed to pass the second level (non-stop pressing buttons or triggering overlay with Win+G seemed to help with waiting), but a later level with spotlights is really impossible, they are spinning like at the disco.

Seems like the only way to run this game is through pcsx2, all the pc version that I have tried don't work, always stuck on the second level.

Second level at the lab as Banner (after the tutorial) im having a problem at the elevator animation with pretty much all versions i have downloaded. The animation wont play, i have tried the compatability for XP and win7, i have tried patches, i have tried Bink but still nothing :( Can anyone help me?

If you have problem with Bink, it means you need RAD Video Tools. Bink was a tool/codec for in-game videos, in the old games. Simply install tools from official site http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm . If it won't help, additionally try to install K-Life Mega Codec Pack, that pack probably has all existing video/audio codecs https://codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_mega.htm
About resolution - many old games doesn't support widescreen mods, and usually only way to play it - in 4:3 resolutions

i can't change the resolution inside the game, it says that my videocard can't support it (even though it obviously can)
