Here is the video game “Star Trek: Klingon Academy”! Released in 2000 on Windows, it's still available and playable with some tinkering. It's an action and simulation game, set in a sci-fi / futuristic, licensed title, space flight, space combat and tv series themes.

I thought I ought to point out that there is a new revision of combined patch, which has a newer (and better) version of the DirectDraw DLL replacement.
I just did a clean reinstall (using my self-created DVD image, which seems to be the one available here, as it checks as identical using SHA-160-bit checking) and using the latest version of the Combined Patch (r9), and the game is running totally flawlessly for me on Win10x64, final released build. (I have not tested it on Win11, because I'm trying to avoid the supposed "upgrade" for as long as I possibly can. I have a couple of mini-PCs running Win11, but they're not really gaming-suitable... though they MIGHT do fine with older software like this!)
The "combined patch" is basically the following, all combined with an installer:
1) Official v1.02 Patch
2) Official v1.02 Screenshot Fix
3) DirectX (DirectDraw-to-Direct3D) Rendering fix (due to Microsoft eliminating directdraw)
4) Multhreading/Heap Corruption Fix (not necessary for me, but does no real harm, either)
5) Mission 9 Cutscene Fix
6) Replacement Launcher - This allows you to set "modern" graphical quality enhancements. I run my version with 1280x1024 resolutionand with antialiasing and anisotropic filtering at "Max allowable" settings. You can set to, for example, 1920x1080, and it works fine, but the movies and "static" screens are stretched, and I don't care for that personally.
Trust me when I tell you, with this patch, this game runs perfectly, just like new, only better. :)
There are a few places you can get this patch, but the "original" location is Komag (Jidi Dvorak's) home page, and it's gone now. I encourage you, instead, to go to https://www.klingonacademy.com/ (it requires a sign-in for downloading files, however, but I've never received any unsolicited emails from there, so I consider it "very safe") There, you can download the combined patch, or the individual sub-patches, plus a lot of other material, and there's a game-specific forum as well.
In my view, this is the best "space combat" game of all time... at least to date. A DRAMATIC improvement over the somewhat lackluster "Starfleet Academy" game which preceded it. Nothing else quite compares... especially if you make use of "Voice Control" instead of keyboard commands to control your bridge crew! (And yes, it works flawlessly with "VoiceBot," currently the best voice control software out there!)

UPDATE: The DVD repack version appears to be virus free. I downloaded it fine, extracted it, moved to desktop and mounted with DAEMON Tools Lite. The game loaded but was unplayable due to display glitches so I downloaded the combined UK/US patch from moddb.com/games/star-trek-klingon-academy/downloads/combined-patch-102r7-english
The patch is really simple to work, you just download it and run it and it automatically finds the game file locations and patches them. After that, the game works great but I think I need a joystick because targeting is HARD.

The download speed I got on here was good, not sure what Lamhac was complaining about...
I grabbed the DVD repack and installed - it did hang on registering fonts, but I installed the community patch (was only able to find 1.02r07) but in the game, when I start, it asks for disc 2. Not sure if the installation failed or I have the wrong patch or what.

Works like a charm. Get the ISO or the repack, download the Combined Patch, which can be found on moddb or on their forum (linked here in the comments by many others). Current patch is 1.02r09 which fixes the launcher, graphics, and other things for a relatively smooth experience on Windows 10.
Also anyone complaining about the speed of this website, which provides it's service for free, while literally simping like some low IQ pleb willing to pay a third-party distributor free money for LITERAL abandonware is a special type of stupid. Not your average everyday stupid but an ADVANCED stupid. It's actually quite impressive the layers of dissonance. Yes that is directed at Lamhac.

I used to love to play this "Star Trek: Klingon Academy". Work, however, "took its toll" and gaming had to wait. Later I started to search for this ST-KA game from different game sites (Steam, Epic, GOG,...) - "in vain". Did find it from this site and thought 'now I can finish what started' - "wrong": downloading 'game discs' tilted many times(?) from this site - with speed of 800KB only? And there is no 'mirror' sites for downloading? I have been loading BIG games like "Sea of Thieves" with speed of 100Mb! Had hopes to have "A Good Old Game Session", but apparently it has to postpone - indefinitely. :(

Use the ones labeled ISO Version CD#
Use setup in CD1. Then move movies from each CD into the games main folder for the campaign. Then use the Community Combined Patch its on moddb and the KA forums. Last you need is ka_ddraw_1_30

Can you upload .ISOs instead of the .BIN/.CUE files? It's such a weird format and it's hard to manage (both Windows and Steam OS support .ISO natively). The game doesnt have copy protection that needs this format.

i am having a problem where when i go to play the game the stars in the game blur and form lines all across my screen when i go to move, also text just add up ontop of its self its like it's just leaving all the frames on the screen at once. help.

so i went to setup.exe to install the game, it said set up actions wasnt responding however the ka.exe file still appeared on my desktop. when i went to play the simulations tho the starfield in the background blurs together like lines. the game is unplayable how were other people able to get it running when we're all dealing with the same files here.

just to clarify its when i click on setup.exe and the game is trying to perform setup actions that it stops responding. and obviously i cant play the game if i cant install it.

I down-loaded the patches and the game but I am unable to play the missions as the game asks me to insert CD 2 to start. The simulator and training perform flawlessly. Thoughts??

I was only able to mount with clone drive. All seemed well except I cannot copy 2 files from disc 5 and 2 files from disc 6. Anyone else have that problem?

I had to look up what a .icd file was since that keeps popping up as been a virus from what others have said in the comments and this is a description I found;
Executable program encrypted with SafeDisc, a disc copy prevention program for Windows games and other applications; typically saved along with an .EXE file which loads the protected ICD file.
In order for a SafeDisc-encrypted program to run, the SafeDisc authenticator must verify the SafeDisc signature on the disc. After the disc has been verified the ICD file can be decrypted and run.

I've downloaded each iso and each one keeps saying;
"Can't mount file, the disc image file is corrupted"

Current disc images and DVD repack have been personally dumped from the physical copy of the game, if you get a virus alert, it's in the game itself.

This game worked a few months ago when I downloaded it. It used to be a "Start the game.bat" file now its a bunch of exe shit. I cant get the game to setup properly now, and even if I could there is a virus embedded in one of the files. Please change it back to the way the download was back in May or whatever.

Hey Admins, sorry to say this but the KA.ICD file seems to have a Ymacco Trojan on it as very time I try to install or play the game, my antivirus picks that up.

Wow, what a find. I logged hundreds of hours on this game. One of the most underrated space sims in my experience, because of the use of capital ships and the tactics needed owing to their slow speed (the larger ones) and the use of cloaking tech among the various Klingon ships. The simulator mode is terrific. This version works like a charm in Win10 (so far). Never had any luck before with the 7 CD version, or the .iso patched version. Graphics were always glitchy. Play the campaign first -- it allows you to use those wins in the simulator, and you can watch Christopher Plummer chew through the scenery!
