Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
DOS - 1989
Description of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
A disappointing game based on the Star Trek movie of the same name, Final Frontier's quirky combat controls and lack of real interactivity in the plot department sank the game faster than James T. Kirk's phaser draw. The game's excellent VGA graphics did little to improve things, so this game is really for die-hard Trekkies who simply must have every Star Trek game ever produced . The rest of us would do well to steer clear of this game.

Works fine for me.This looks to be a cracked version when i enter the translation wrong it still says excellent and continues on, so that's good.Make sure you copy this to a directory named TREK5 otherwise it ask for drive in disk A.Don't make TREK5 your c drive root, make it a sub directory, for example your c drive is games and then TREK5 is a sub directory it should work fine after that.

Doesn't work for me either, it crashes upon entering the "Klingon" translation. It's not as simple as Trekkie is making it out to be, unfortunately. I mean, I must be missing something - I just don't know what. Every other DOSbox game I run is fine (maybe the odd one requires a tweak to work), so it's not like I don't know how DOSbox works. It's just that I can't figure out this particular game, it won't work.
I have the manual, and I enter the proper "Klingon" language selection, but it will just crash right after that. The URL that Katie provides has a DOSbox emulator with the game built into it...basically it's a modified version just to run Star Trek V - and that works great.
If there is a special command or entry you need to enter to make this game work in DOSbox, please let me (or us) know.

I don't know, what "PROF" is ranting about... This game runs perfectly fine on modern PC's with the newest version of the fabulous DosBox emulator! No need for any extra hardware, no floppy drives are requiered... Just download the game and put it in your DosBox folder. That's it! Live long and prosper!
