A wholly over hyped game that trades on the fact it's a rip off of Mario Bros',and the Amiga version fails to actually look better than the C64 version.
Homage is shovelled on in spades to the detriment of the game play, pixel perfect jumps and unfair time limits along with the bugbear of ONLY 4 LIVES!,is a joke that isn't funny,32 levels that get old by the 6th,it all play by numbers.
The later levels are sadistic in a way that defies the demographic it's aimed at,some jumps need a light small jump, others a full jump, others are a timing affair so if you just jump and die without understanding what you're doing wrong,it's game over.
The taking your gun off of you if you die is moronic,so if you did die and you managed to scrape a few levels you then face having no way to kill the flying dinosaur that appears at the end of every few levels,so no credits or saves means it's diabolically painful to progress.
Forced scrolling is an issue where you cross the screen and you can't go back,i got stuck where the two platforms were too high,so i had to reload, not an option when playing on original hardware, there looks to be bad level design all through the game, rushed levels with the if you get it wrong you die, this wouldn't be an problem on level 3 but on level 20 it is a huge failing in the games design.
Along the whole standing on a lift where by if you are too far left you'll hit the monster as you come up is another example of their contempt for the gamer, totally colour blind and bad optics from the programmers, whose eyes were on wooing Nintendo, rather than what they should have been doing all along, which was making a good fun challenging game.
I have played this all 32 levels on Win UAE saving each level as i went,i know it's cheating, all but impossible otherwise,i didn't use a trainer which would have eliminated time limits and some enemy collision,it was still a hard campaign, but it's just too hard, tedious and boring in the end, worth a go with a trainer if just saving like it did,as it's too much of a slog that’s just not worth it.

Emulators abound; if you refuse to be a purist and play the game on the proper platform, download one of the countless free emulators and play it that way.
