RFXCasey's comment about this being "sub-par" is... well, sort of silly. The game is exactly what it sets out to be, and it does the job it sets out to do nicely enough.
Of course, Tux Racer has been around since at least the "Redhat 7.0" era, and likely before, and is an older program. It's not going to push your RTX-capable video card to its limits. But... who cares?
The whole point of this game is to be a mindless, short-term distraction sort of game. It's fairly challenging, due to the difficulty of combining physics with a very slippery surface.
It's actually a pretty good game, as far as "casual" games go.

I vividly remember playing an android game in 2013 very similar to this, i believe i finally found what the devs of android game were inspired by.

A cute and unique 3D racing game, Tux Racer casts you as Tux the Linux Penguin (groan) as he races down steep, snow-covered mountains.
Your mission is to race Tux down a hill on his stomach while gathering as many fish as possible in the process. You are given a set number of lives, and as you finish each course, more challenging obstacles are placed in your way for the next round. For a longer game, you can enter cups and compete to win the championship. In addition to excellent 3D graphics and gameplay, Tux Racer includes a variety of options, including different race conditions-- you can race in fog, at night, and under high winds. I can't really find fault with this game-- one of the best freeware racing gems to appear in ages. Two thumbs up!
Note: The game is released under GNU General Public License, which means it can run on any system that can compile GNU C++ code.
