Another option to play this game with subs, is the SCUMM version. When you get the SCUMM version, unpack into a directory of your choice, then get that ZNPatch that I mention before, open the file with winrar, and unpack only the "Addon" to the game directory you created. Thats it, run the game on scumm and watch those subs on the intro when you start a new game, or in the game go to Prefs menu.
The SCUMM version is in fact made of the win95 version with the videos converted in avi files. The result is better than the GOG version: no scanlines on videos anymore, the display screen is in right size, and no game lag when you rotate, even so is better choose the slow option on prefs menu.

This game don't have subtitles, but there is an official patch (for win95 only) that make appear the subtitles option on the preferences menu. The GOG version is not patched. You can find the official patch here: https://archive.org/details/ZNPATCH

I hated this game.
I constantly had to change CDs, and it also gave me nightmares...
I nevertheless spent many hours on it and have played it through to the end.

Great Game. Excellent Story, Superb Videos, Fine Riddles to Solve. Mysterious Feelings in Dark Screens and some Classical Ideas of the World as it is.
