So these comments were helpful. It took me 5 days, but I got my virtualbox up and running. However, I did have to use this download. The download on Archive was not the correct game. I am sooo happy to be able to play this!

Just wanted to help anyone struggling to install/play this game. It doesn't run on modern windows, so you will need to install VirtualBox, a tool that can run different windows versions in a new window. Get Windows XP. TheHowToGuy123's tutorial on YouTube really helped me (except get Opera for your browsing software). To download Candy Land, download the "ISO IMAGE" file on the Archive site. I wasn't able to download from this site sadly. It is titled Candy Land Adventure 1996, but this is actually the 1998 version, so don't worry about that. It's the right game.
It was a job and a half for me to figure things out and get it running, but everything's working smoothly. I'll thank my drive for the nostalgia for my patience lol. I've literally had dreams about playing this again so I had to. Hope this helps you.

For those who are having trouble, an easy way of running games like this on 64-bit versions of windows is by installing otvdm/winevdm.

I cannot the game to download on my computer or my ipad, I am so sad. It says I need 32 windows to play 16 bit game, idk what any of that means. can someone somehow make this compatiable for the newer windows I think i have 62

Used to play this game ever day when I was little, I forgot about it until recent and I love it! The ice cream part was my favourite when I was little, and the goblin looking thing scared me lol.

You need to run it in 32 windows. Use Virtualbox to install Windows XP, Vista, or an older version of 32 bit OS. Runs like a charm!

love the game . due to the lockdown i could not buy the actual board game for my daughter so for now i am letting her play this version of candyland
she absolutely loves it
i am very glad that i stumbled upon this add as my daughter was getting board and kept distubing me when i work
