Had this back in the 90s on our family computer. I've stuck with the series. This is what got the aviation bug to bite me. Now, years later, I am a certified airplane mechanic and avionics tech.

Seems to run OK (only tested in the browser so far) if you run SETUP first. Be patient, give it about 20 seconds to start up. Increase your DOSbox cycles.

I haven't tested this version after it didn't work and seeing that stupid crack screen, but the versions from emuparadise and fshistory.simflight.com both work if you set ems to false under the [dos] options.

I believe this was the first year they offered different aircraft to fly. Those were the days...With Microprose and the rest of those great developers I never had any free time :)
And then EA gobbled them all up and stole all the fun...:(

I remember my dad getting hooked on this, playing it on weekends sometimes while it was his turn to babysit. My sis and I used to tease him by imitating the vocal warning, "watch your altitude!"
And trying to crash planes in the most artistic or funniest fashion possible because us wee ones couldn't be bothered to learn how to keep the tricky things aflight for more than ten seconds.Good times.
