The game with NoDVD has been tested on Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 10, it works fine. You may experience some small troubles when you play the game on modern systems, check our Guide and Notes for details

Install & play guide:

• Mount the ISO disc image of DVD. You will need the utility for mounting disc image files, like WinCDEmu, UltraISO, Alcohol 52%/Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools Lite
• Install the game. It is recommended to install the game not in default path, but in some other, non-system folder, like C:/Games/Perry Rhodan, so you won't have troubles with NoDVD
• After you installed the game, install the international patch v1.2
• Then use NoDVD, simply copy Perry_Rhodan.exe from the archive and put it in Perry Rhodan/bin folder, agree to replace the original file
• Right click on Perry_Rhodan.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Set "Run this app in Compatibility mode with Windows XP" and "Run as Administrator"
• Launch the game and play. If the game doesn't work in compatibility mode with Windows XP - try to launch it in Compatibility mode with other version of Windows (Windows 95, 98, etc.)

Notes:

• If the installation doesn't start - try to launch Rhodan Setup.exe as Administrator and in Compatibility mode with old version of Windows (98, 2000 or XP)
• It is recommended to install all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and NET Framework for the correct work of the game. Also it is recommended to install K-Lite Codec Pack for the correct work of in-game videos
• The game works on DirectX 9, so if you're using Windows 8, 8.1, 10 or 11 - you need to enable DirectPlay: Go to Control Panel, and select 'Programs'. Select 'Turn Windows features on and off', click on 'Legacy Components' and check the box 'DirectPlay'. Select OK, once the installation is done, restart your computer
• About the patch v1.2 - looks like on some systems the unpatched game v1.0 works better, so if you have troubles on the game v1.2, try to play the unpatched game, maybe the game will work better that way. NoDVD is compatible with both v1.0 and v1.2
• The game was designed for 4:3 screen ratio, so when you run the game on wide screen displays, it will run with black bars on the sides. Don't worry, the game is intended to work like that
• For users of Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 & 11: the game always MUST BE launched in Compatibility mode with Windows XP! On Windows 7 and newer Windows OS the game must be launched in Windows XP, otherwise it won't be working correctly and crash during the loadings of next areas or when you load the savegame
• If the game launches in Windowed mode - in desktop shortcut add -fullscreen command line argument (right click on shortcut -> Properties -> in "Target" line write -fullscreen in the end of line, should look like C:/Games/Perry Rhodan/bin/perry_rhodan.exe -fullscreen), then run the game from desktop shortcut, it should launch in Fullscreen
• If the game shows error at the launch or works too slow, try to launch it on lowest graphical settings - click on Windows Start menu button, find "Perry Rhodan" folder and run "Perry Rhodan Compatibility Mode" shorcut. Another method is to run the game with -fullscreen -compatibility_mode command line argument (right click on desktop shortcut -> Properties -> in "Target" line write -fullscreen -compatibility_mode in the end of line, should look like C:/Games/Perry Rhodan/bin/perry_rhodan.exe -fullscreen -compatibility_mode). The game will be launched on lowest settings and will be looking not very great, but at least it will be working
• The game has a lot of issues with integrated GPUs. If you have a laptop with integrated and discrete video cards - in control panel of video card select only the discrete GPU for this game. Also, make sure to run the game in Compatibility mode with Windows XP and as Administrator
• There's might be a bug with in-game shadows on some systems. If you have that bug, run the game in Compatibility mode with Windows XP (also, try Compatibility modes with other old Windows OS). If it didn't work, do the next: when you start the game go to Settings -> Preset and select "High", then set Shadows to "None" or "Blob" and save the settings; you need to do this every time you start the game
• There can be also other graphical bugs, such as: black screen instead of intro videos, white square instead of mouse cursor, glitchy inventory icons. All of that bugs should be automatically fixed when you run the game in Compatibility mode with Windows XP (also, try Compatibility modes with other old Windows OS). If you changed the Anti-aliasing settings and the screen become completely white - close the game through Task Manager (press Ctrl+Alt+Del) and delete the game settings file in Documents/My Games/Perry Rhodan folder
• If you have troubles with fonts - try to copy all fonts from Windows/Fonts folder into Perry Rhodan/data/gui/fonts folder
• NoDVD is required because the different versions of the game are protected TAGES and SolidShield DRMs, which doesn't work correctly on modern systems. NoDVD "cracks" the DRM protection and allows to run the game without the disc. If you see the error that there's not enough space on the hard drive when you copy NoDVD files - re-install the game in non-system folder, like D:/Games/Perry Rhodan, Windows Protection may block copying of files to system folders (like C:/Program Files or C:/Windows)
• The original Russian release of the game was protected with infamous StarForce DRM that doesn't work on modern systems and even can "kill" them. But we found the installer with removed StarForce DRM, so you can install the game without worrying about StarForce DRM. If you have troubles with Russian version - check this and this threads
• About translation patches: Czech translation patch contains the files from the official Czech release, including the Czech subtitles for vides. Spanish translation patch is unofficial, if you want to use it, first install the English version, then patch v1.2, and only after use NoDVD and Spanish translation patch; check this thread for more details
